| Orion licenses biomarkers from Johns Hopkins |

VerusMed - Orion Genomics entered into a worldwide exclusive license agreement with The Johns Hopkins University to commercialize products that identify patients at risk for colorectal cancer.
The license is based on a suite of issued and pending patents owned by Johns Hopkins that cover imprinting abnormalities of the insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) gene.
Orion is currently developing a blood-based risk assessment test designed to identify individuals who carry the IGF2 biomarker so they may undergo screening and/or have any precancerous polyps that may progress to colon cancer removed.
"We believe our risk assessment test will be easily incorporated into the routine management of colorectal cancer," said Nathan Lakey, Orion's chief executive officer. "When used in conjunction with colonoscopy screening, our test has the potential to reduce colorectal cancer incidence as well as reduce associated colorectal cancer treatment costs ...."
